Lea County SBDC

While NHF is providing this particular local businessman with the contacts at the federal labs, the support to go through the related due diligence processes of the selected technology, and some funding for basic testing of the technology, this local company needed help with a BUSINESS PLAN.

“We are glad to be working with NHF – The Foundation is helping increase our ‘traffic’ by bringing business opportunities through technology into our local market…we are here to help companies get started, grow and be successful,” stated Brandon Hunt, Director of the New Mexico Junior College SBDC. The local SBDC office is located on the campus of New Mexico Junior College in the Training and Outreach Facility at 4000 West Millen Drive.

Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) provide a vast array of technical assistance to small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. By supporting business growth, sustainability and enhancing the creation of new businesses entities, SBDCs foster local and regional economic development through job creation and retention. As a result of the no cost, extensive, one-on-one, long-term professional business advising, low-cost training and other specialized services SBDC clients receive.

The program remains one of the nation’s largest small business assistance programs in the federal government. The SBDCs are made up of a unique collaboration of SBA federal funds, state and local governments, and private sector resources.

SBDCs also provide services through professional business advisors such as: development of business plans; manufacturing assistance; financial packaging and lending assistance; exporting and importing support; disaster recovery assistance; procurement and contracting aid; market research services; aid to 8(a) firms in all stages; and healthcare information.

NHF is proud to work with Brandon Hunt and the local SBDC office; “this is a tremendous resource for NHF and the businesspeople and entrepreneurs throughout Lea County,” stated Dale Gannaway, Executive Director, NHF.
